…to hear a myriad of brethren speaking, where you allow yourself to be cut across and to do so without being defensive…Who taught you this? And why do you hold onto it so?
Humility is not displayed in receiving feedback openly but in withholding—not being the one to give it. In the space where you step back I can then step in. Speak less, so I can say more.
To be quiet is not to be contrary.
Speaking as you have into the lives of one another has been the source of much confusion, sadness and even oppression. And the source of these things does not have its origin in me.
Where is the voice of man causing confusion? When have you been that man?
It is my kindness that leads to repentance…and your trust in my ability to do it. In the stillness is where I speak.
When the voices are many, what drives the chorus of comments and questions? Are you not in fear? Fear that if you cease, something will be missed or left uncovered?
The fear behind this fear is that I cannot be heard without you. By the heart of the one.
You give credit to the feelings that lead you to speak, yet discount the feelings the spoken words evoke.
Where is your grief?…Grief over what you have lost. What I have lost. Who I have lost.
What will your remorse lead you to do?
Shed your retort. May my heart have its way among your people. My yoke is easy. What yoke do you wear and where has it harmed you—those from without and those from within?
Ask your youth. Where have your practices been at the expense of your people?
Repent. Apologize. Listen.
Transparency is not the measure of intimacy. You do not have a corner on what it is to follow me.
